Dog Training Tips
Nobody likes having a misbehaved pet. Misbehaved pets are embarrassing and are a pain to take care of. You can’t take them anywhere and they ruin your favorite shoes. Below are some dog training tips that will get you that well-mannered dog you’ve always dreamed of.
Here are some quick dog training tips to help you get started.
- Firm and Friendly
- Praise & Reward
- Be Patient
- Use the correct dog training shock collar
- No distractions
- Reprimand
- Be Positive
- Play with your dog
Different voice tones for different commands are recommended. For example, if you want your dog to come towards you, a friendly welcoming tone should be used. On the other hand, if you want your dog to sit or lay down a firm tone is recommended.
It is important that you praise your dog when he does something good. For instance, whenever your dog learns a new trick. Positive reinforcement is essential when your dog is learning something new.
We all know Rome wasn’t built in one day. With that being said you should know that your dog isn’t going to learn all the tricks in one day either. So, patience is the key when you are training with your dog. Dogs are incredibly smart animals so teach one command at a time and always end on a positive note. 10 minutes of play time with your dog after a lesson will get him/her excited for the next time you have lesson.
More and more trainers are now using electric shock collars to train their pets versus old methods of training because of how safe shock collars are made these days. Shock collars do not harm the pets in anyway. It is used more to startle a dog than to harm it. To insure the safety of your pet, make sure you purchase the right sized shock collar.
Dogs get distracted easily so it is vital that you pick a quiet area with the least amount of distractions as possible. A backyard works best for basic obedience training.
You should never hit your dog when it’s misbehaving. Always be firm if he/she is doing something wrong. Remember, dogs are man's best friend!
Positive reinforcement lets the dog know he/she did something good. A trainer can offer a dog treats for an example of positive reinforcement.
Must important tip we can offer a dog owner is to spend time with your pets. Just like humans, pets deserve and need affection on a daily basis. A few minutes out of your day to play with your dog means the world to them.
